UP Pep Squad 2012 - The University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad has won the Samsung UAAP Cheerdance Competition, becoming champions for the third straight year despite of losing veteran members who graduated last March 2012.
The UP cheering team bested the 7 other UAAP pep squads in front of nearly 20,000 spectators at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena on Saturday.
UP pep Squad, the eigh-time champions stayed true to their theme of “freedom and equality” as everyone in the squad, even the women performers, went bald for Saturday’s event at the Mall of Asia Arena.
It was actually the second “three-peat” for UP – the last from 1999 to 2001.

The UP pep squad’s overall performance, with its ingenious dance moves, was enough to bring home the crown despite a fall by one of the dancers in its final stunt. During their final Oblation lift, a cheerdancer in one of their “towers” lost her balance and tumbled down. Fortunately, she was not injured.
UP took home the P340,000 top prize and a trophy.

The Far Eastern University’s fierce and wild performance, which gave the crowd the feel of the jungle, made a great improvement from its last year’s third place settled for first runner-up this year and brought home a prize of P200,000 while the National University Pep Squad’s Disney-inspired routine got a happy ending as it pocketed P140,000 for being into the top three for the first time.
Again, Congratulations to all the winners and specially to UP pep Squad.

FYI!
Just to clear out guys, the UP pep squad is based in diliman. So you can expect that majority of these guys are from the said campus. The reason that I mention this because I am from UP Los Baños. Like brothers and sisters sometimes there is an internal conflict and little misunderstanding between UP campuses but still I am proud that the squad won the competition and I always do regardless of which UP campus they come from. These are my honest feelings.
Good thing when you are reading articles in DiversityHuman.com is that, we always give our honest, fearless, and unbias statements. And when we choose to take side, we always make it clear.
