Jeremias Diego, a 44-year-old Filipino nursing assistant who has been accused of sexually assaulting his female patients asked the court public defender to represent him and to postpone his arraignment on the charges.
Police investigations indicated that Jeremias Diego has been working at the Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, San Fernando, California since April 2012. He was arrested earlier this week after a female patient alleged that she was molested by him.
During the course of the police investigation they found that he was involved in at least two sexually related incidents at Holy Cross Hospital.
“During the time he was doing his job, he took advantage of this woman and touched her in an inappropriate manner. She alerted other nursing staff at the hospital which in turn, notified the Los Angeles police department,” explained Detective Michael Brox.
Authorities are also making inquiries at Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California where he used to work and asking other potential victims to contact Detective Michael Brox at (818) 838-9902.
Providence Holy Cross Medical Center released a statement saying it takes the allegations against Diego “very seriously and are conducting a thorough internal investigation and cooperating with law enforcement on their investigation.”
As of press time, Diego declined to speak to provide any statements in regards to the allegations. He is scheduled to return to court on October 19th.
Early this year, Roland Densen, a 38-year old bergenfield man was arrested in New Jersey due to sexual assault charges. In April 2012, Jonathan Aquino was caught on tape assaulting an 80-year old patient. Is this becoming a trend to Filipino nurses who work abroad?
