Tart Carlos said she willingly endured being physically abused, but decided to leave her husband when he also hurt their eldest son.
"Inuntog niya sa pader, tapos dugo agad dito (pointing to forehead)," she said.
Turning emotional, Rosario Carlos recalled fleeing their home to seek help from her friend. Tart said going to her family was not an option at the time, as she feared her father, a policeman, could "kill" her husband knowing of the abusive relationship.
"That's the time na natakbo ko ang Baclaran hanggang Buendia nang walang sapatos, tapos karga-karga ko 'yung anak ko. wala akong dalang pera, walang cellphone, ganoon.
After some time, Rosario said she forgave her husband and tried to salvage their marriage. However, according to the comedienne, her partner remained abusive.
Eventually, Rosario Carlos recalled, her family learned of her being a battered wife. She said even her sister was physically abused by her (Carlos') husband.
On finally moving on from her first marriage, Tart said in jest,
"Totoo ang kasabihan na pag lalaki ang problema, lalaki rin ang solusyon!"
Now with four kids, Rosario "Tart" Carlos said she is happy with her current partner, her third since separating from her former husband.
