47,000 Cruise Ship Jobs Opportunities for Filipino High School Graduates

Do you find it hard to reach your dream cruise ship jobs because you failed to finish a Maritime of Tourism course? Are you working as a Marine Engineer, Marine Pilot, Degree-holder tour guide, a highly literate hotel receptionist or as a Certified Public Accountant? Are you a wealthy person who just happened to enjoy travelling from one place to another via cruise ships?

Well, you don’t have to be a high profile person or a professional just for you to be allowed in a cruise ship. Most of all, I am pleased to announce a good news to our much-loved High school graduates.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that even without a college degree, Filipino job-hunters can now work on board a world-renowned international cruise ships as the government agency declared around 47,000 cruise ship job vacancies.

In a news report posted by ABS-CBN News, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said that the cruise ships will hire people even those who are High School graduates. They also disclosed that the cruise ships prefer those with working experience in hotels, casinos and spas, as well as in the fields of beauty and health, information and technology and security.

Secretary Baldoz added that the international job vacancies will be created when 15 new international cruise ships will come into service this year. Baldoz cited “Cruise vacations are becoming more popular, so global demand is expected to increase in the next five years with new cruise ships to be put in operation,”

The famous job vacancies that the cruise ships posted are more inclined in the entertainment field and service crews to cater to the needs of passengers. The cruise ships will be hiring positions related to entertainment such as performers, disk jockeys, swimming instructors, host and hostesses and other service-oriented positions such as massage therapists, hair stylists, waiters, cooks, bar tenders and deck assistants as stated by DOLE.

Although there is a big chance for High School graduates to land a cruise ship job, there are still some firm requirements before they become a qualified seafarer. These are:

  • High School diploma,
  • experience and proficiency in spoken and written English

It would be advisable for aspiring applicants to review or study their English vocabulary before going for the interview to impress their employers and be admitted easily. It would also be advantageous if they already have a working experience related to the job posts.

Cruise ship jobs usually offer a very enticing compensation and benefits. DOLE said that the salary range for service-oriented jobs like waiters is $1800-$2,400 a month and $2,800-$4,800 for hair stylists.

If you are a high school graduate and is still on-the-job hunt and you feel that you meet all of these requirements, then don’t hesitate to apply now. The rewards are very promising and you will surely enjoy working in a cruise ship at the same time.
