Fans of Pinoy rock music, it is officially announced that Karl Roy, the icon of Pinoy funk and rock music and frontman of Kapatid and P.O.T. has passed away at the age of 43. Roy had not been feeling well since Sunday night. Doctors found water in his lungs and was confined in an intensive care unit. Roy also had a stroke in recent years. He died at 1 a.m.
"It is with deepest sadness that I share the news of Karl's passing. He was called Home today at 1:01 a.m. Manila time (Tuesday, March 13th), surrounded by those who loved him most - mommy, Keith, Kevin, Krys, his daughter Arianna, and our cousin Jack (Roy-Duavit)," Karl's sister posted on her Facebook wall.
He was known as the man who never gave up and a musician full of courage to defy the test of time. His urge to be creative and to push beyond the limits made him very popular in the rock music industry. He secured his throne in the funk rock era and that could no longer be erased.
Pam Lunar, his manager, said Roy had written nine of 12 songs they planned to release in an album at the time of his passing.
