The investigators said that the man did not accidentally fall into the tracks. According to the Makati police, the man jumped into the tracks and died after his body was dragged by the train for 30 meters.
MRT general manager Al Vitangcol said the train station's closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage shows that the man indeed jumped onto the tracks.
The MRT management had to suspend the operations of the train system due to the incident. However, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) said that MRT was on provisional operations from North Ave. to Shaw Boulevard station and vice versa after the incident has occurred.
As a result, passengers were forced to get off the train and had no choice but to take other means of transportation following the disruption of operations. This caused traffic situation along the busy Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) to worsen. - report from ABS-CBN news and InterAksyon news
