Dingdong Dantes, 2nd Best Actor Award from MMFF is a dream come true

Dingdong Dantes, the 32-year-old GMA-7 actor received the Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actor award for the second consecutive time for his dramatic performance in the family drama “One More Try,” Star Cinema’s official entry to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) that wowed the jurors. best-actor-dingdon-dantes-one-more-try.jpg Dingdong Dantes almost missed his chance to personally accept his second Best Actor trophy from the annual MMFF on Thursday at the Meralco Theater in Ortigas due to a taping in Tagaytay City.

Dantes gave his acceptance speech after Nora Aunor had received her award as Best Actress for her "Thy Womb" role. Prior to the veteran actress' recognition, the "One More Try" star had already been announced winner.

In his speech, the actor also expressed gratitude to the ABS-CBN film production outfit "for giving me this opportunity once again, for considering me for the role."

Dantes also thanked his home network, GMA-7, for allowing him to be part of Star Cinema projects two years in a row. "'Yung family ko, inspiration ko for doing this film, and I'd like to also thank Marian Rivera (Dantes' girlfriend who was chosen as ROGUE magazine's cover in June 2012) for making it easy for me to do this," he added.

Shortly after the awards night, the actor referred to his personal acceptance of the recognition as a "dream come true."

Last year, Dantes was recognized with the same award, also by the MMFF, for his role in another Star Cinema film "Segunda Mano."

The consecutive Best Actor award of Dingdong only proved Gov. E.R. Ejercito's declaration last year that Dingdong is a fine actor of his generation who is deserving of such accolade.
