PHIL Army-Navy Daring Rescue of Electric Workers, Gerona River in Tarlac
Six workers of Tarlac Electric Cooperative (TARELCO) were into a life and death situation while fixing a power line in Tarlac, a report from ANC news.
A group of six linemen were at work when suddenly a raging water along Gerona river blocked them from moving into a safer ground. ANC news reported that the initial rescue attempt, using rubber boats, failed due to strong current. Thus, it prompted the brave men of the Philippine army, together with its navy and air force counterparts, to make a daring rescue operation. The authorities decided to use a helicopter to airlift them to safety, which was a risky attempt involving 20 members of the Army, Air Force and Navy personnel.
As seen in the video, the rescue was far from smooth. One of the employees was stuck into a post but seconds later, he was able to untangle himself. He reportedly sustained minor injuries but the six workers were successfully plucked out of the raging waters.
