Red Alert--La Mesa Dam Water Level rises, residents near Tullahan River advised to evacuate ASAP
Due to heavy rains caused by thunderstorms affecting Antipolo, San Mateo and Rodriguez in Antipolo and parts of Metro Manila and Bulacan, the La Mesa Dam water level rises beyond its handling level. Hence, the residents near Tullahan River are advised to immediately evacuate, according to the manager of the watershed.
Teddy Angeles, the manager of La Mesa Watershed issued a red alert status over La Mesa Dam on Tuesday night, October 08, 2013. The water level at the dam was at 79.98 meters at 7:43 p.m., but rose quickly within minutes and reached a critical level, 80.04 meters, at 8:30 p.m. Overflow level at the dam is at 80.15 meters.
Residents living in low-lying areas in the vicinity of the dam and those living near Tullahan River were advised to leave their homes immediately. Angeles said local government units have been informed of the red alert status. He added residents will be allowed to return to their homes if the water level goes down to 79.3 meters. -ABS-CBN news
