Tragic Loss: Two OFWs Die in Kuwait House Fire

by OFW Report

The Filipino community is mourning the loss of two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who tragically died in a house fire in Al Adan, Kuwait, on December 2, 2024.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has confirmed the incident and is extending its full support to the families of the victims.

The fire broke out in a residence located in the Al Adan area of the Mubarak Al Kabeer governorate, south of Kuwait City. According to Labor Attaché Manuel Dimaano of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Kuwait, the cause of death for the two OFWs was attributed to the inhalation of non-breathable, toxic gases from the fire. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but reports indicate that six other individuals were rescued from the incident.

The DMW, along with the MWO in Kuwait, is actively working on the repatriation of the victims' remains to the Philippines. The DMW Regional Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Western Visayas have provided financial assistance and visited the families of the deceased in Capiz. The DMW has assured the families of its full support during this difficult time and is coordinating with the Philippine embassy in Kuwait to expedite the repatriation process.
