UP ranked 348th University in the World, Ateneo & DLSU in the list of QS World University Rankings 2013

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings 2013 has been dominated by Western Universities but three top universities in the Philippines also managed to be part of its latest global rankings. UP, Ateneo, DLSU were included in list of the best schools in the world, excelling in English language and literature.
The final QS ranking showed UP and Ateneo in the top 51-100 schools for English language and literature, while DLSU in the top 101-150 for the same subject.
Overall, UP is ranked 348th from 332nd in the previous standing. While Ateneo de Manila slid to the 451-500 bracket from 360th and De La Salle University dropped to 601+ bracket from 551-600 bracket.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject gathers the opinion of academics and employers through a global survey.
Harvard University was ranked number one in 10 disciplines, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranked first in 7. The University of California, Berkeley and Oxford topped in 4 subjects, while Cambridge ranked first in 3.
For 2013, the QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluated 2,858 universities and ranked 678 institutions. -- report from ABS-CBN news

UP deserves a better standing but it lacks support from the government. If we can only provide 50% of the pork barrel to the University funds, then we can expect that we can be in top 51-100 bracket in two years time.
