MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board) has something to say after watching the trailer. The panel said that the movie is too horrifying and it has to be immediately banned from being shown in the local cinema. They said that the content of the film might cause the audience to pee in their pants. Tragic Theater received an “X-rating” twice since 2004.
Professionally it shouldn't be judged that way. This is a quality film. An art made by producers and hard working directors. I guess Filipino movie screeners are not as arrogant as they think. Even if we ought not to produce such film, how many viewers buy tickets to watch more horrifying films like the ring, the grudge, and Emily Rose (Exorcism) which were produced outside the country? Filipinos appreciate horror films. We even have The Philippine Ghost story book 1-100 and a lot of us bought it. So, why do they have to ban such epic horror film? Is it really that scary?
Hopefully, the Tragic Theater (The exorcism at the Manila Film Center) will hit in cinemas on January 8, 2015.
Exorcism is well known outside the country when America claimed that it is based on several real life stories. Exorcism is observed when religious or spiritual practices are evicted by demon or other spiritual entities. Usually it happens outside the densely populated metropolitan.
