The iconic Rolls-Royce car has finally arrived in the Philippine market.

Dubbed as the ultimate luxury car maker, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has chosen British Bespoke Automobiles,a subsidiary of businessman Willy Tee Ten's Autohub group, as the brand's authorized importer-dealer for the Philippines. It will import the Phantom, Ghost and Wraith cars into the country. Tee Ten said they initiated talks with Rolls-Royce late last year, convincing the car maker that they can grow the brand and make it popular in the Philippines.

During the launch event in Makati City on Wednesday, Paul Harris, Asia Pacific regional director for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said the strong Philippine economy and growing interest from Filipino customers were just some of the reasons why the company decided to finally jump into the local market.

"You are aware of the current views of how the Philippines is being valued as a destination for investment and this is what we at Rolls-Royce are also seeing here. We have been monitoring this market for some time now and we have seen the interest level in the brand increase," Harris said.

Rolls-Royce's entry comes after another British luxury car maker Bentley recently opened a showroom in Manila. But Tee Ten doesn't want to compare Rolls-Royce with other brands.

"Sometimes we don't even call them (Rolls-Royce) a car, it's a piece of art. We believe our customer is a different breed, they want customized cars," Tee Ten said.

For the Ghost, the standard base price will start at about P25.9 million but the price may spike depending on how much customization the customer wants. The delivery of the vehicle would also depend - ranging from four to five months for a Ghost and seven months for a Phantom.

However, Tee Ten admitted the market will be limited to a "select" and "privileged few."

"We believe the market will be captains of industry, successful people whether in business or any other fields, they are the ones that will be our primary customers that will purchase the cars...We just hope we will be able to convince them to reward themselves after all those hard work and enjoy the fruits of their labor," Ten said. After all, it is said the Rolls-Royce is the ultimate symbol that one has "arrived" in the world.
