Manila, Philippines - Four Chinese nationals identified as Du Juan, 22; Zhang Shiwei, 29; Chen Xiangdong, 23; and Geng Yunqiu 20, were blocked by the Bureau of Immigration's Travel Control and Enforcement Unit (TCEU) on Monday as they tried to illegally enter the Philippines.
On Monday, on board China Southern flight CZ 3091, the four arrived in the Philippines from Guangzhou, China.
The four chinese nationals were immediately spotted and profiled by TCEU agents manning the entrance at the immigration area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) while they lined-up at the counters for clearance, according to TCEU head Dong Castillo.
Castillo brought them to immigration supervisors Rosario Teano and Glenda Alma for interrogation. The supervisors said the four Chinese nationals attempted to bribe them by offering at least US$1,000 each to grant their entry to the country.
The Chinese nationals wanted to work in the Philippines but they lack work permits and other official documents. The four, who were blacklisted from coming back to the Philippines, were immediately sent to China via the next available flight to Guangzhou.
Authorities said that Du Juan, Zhang Shiwei, Chen Xiangdong, and Geng Yunqiu violated the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, or the Act To Control And Regulate The Immigration Of Aliens Into the Philippines.
