DiversityHuman Engaged to Forever on New Year 2017

"There are things that stand the test of time, there are things that last. Like love." - Guillaume Musso

My life isn't perfect and I didn't expect that a great surprise will eventually change my entire being and belief towards the concept of "forever". Back then, I hold onto the famous idea that "there's no such thing as forever", a popular quote by Gregory David Roberts.

Because of extremely disturbing memories and pains I had in my life, I was under the impression that there's nothing left for me. The harrowing experiences I had in the past made me think that I could no longer find the woman whom I could spend the rest of my life.

All of these nightmares, however, changed when someone walked into my life in 2014. My entire world was positively transformed. Her flaws made me realize that she is perfect in all aspects. She brightened up the horrible days of my life and turned sadness to heavenly happiness. I truly found the missing piece in my life.

DiversityHuman's Journey to Forever

"Patience is a Virtue"

It took me exactly two years of patience, 24 months of trust, or equivalently 104 weeks of respect before I had my first face to face conversation with her beautiful and caring mother. After waiting 730 days, I finally stepped inside the home that was built by her hardworking father. These two important events occurred on January 1, 2017.

Before I visited her place, I tried my best to come up with a fancy marriage proposal. I spent months thinking the best, sweetest, coolest, memorable, and most romantic wedding proposal. Despite the long preparation, I ended up with a very simple engagement proposal-doing it right in front of her mother or any of her family member. I also planned to do it inside their home and not elsewhere.

The Proposal

I was confident and I felt very prepared when I visited her home last January 01, 2017. To ensure that she won't have any clue that I will be proposing to her that day, I bought her some white roses from my favorite flower shop. I typically give her flowers even if there's no special occasion. Then, we met in a certain mall in Quezon city before we went into her house. Everything worked as initially planned but somehow she was staring at the small paper bag that I had with me. Since I was a stage actor back in high school, I pretty much handled it with ease.

When we arrived at her house, she introduced me to her mom. I made Mano to her pretty mother(my apoligies for sounding like a conio here).

Definition of Conio as shown in urbandictionary.com:

In the Philippines, the word "conio" is used to describe spoiled rich kids who often mix their English and Tagalog, resulting in sentences like: "Oh my naman! I have to make aral so i can make pasar the exam bukas!"

According to Wikipedia:

Mano or Pagmamano is a gesture used in Filipino culture performed as a sign of respect to elders and as a way of accepting a blessing from the elder. Similar to hand-kissing, the person giving the greeting bows towards the offered hand of the elder and presses his or her forehead on the elder's hand. Usually performed with the right hand, the person showing respect may ask Mano po to the elder in order to ask permission to initiate the gesture.

Funny thing was the awkward moment when I failed to recognize her mother since she looks a little different from the photos that were initially shown to me. After the short acquaintance, her mother immediately asked me to join them at the dining area.

At this point, I was already feeling nervous and I could not think of the right timing. There were too many questions running on top my head like when can I offer the ring and how will I bend my knee during the proposal. The shop where I bought the engagement ring had an online link to help their customers on how to pop the question but I didn't actually read it thoroughly.

I felt that I won't be comfortable on my seat if I will be keeping the ring with me. While in the middle of a serious conversation, I decided to execute my ultimate goal - make the marriage proposal on bended knee while her mother serves as the witness of my honest and sincere love to her lovely, charming, and beautiful daughter.

Things happened so fast. After I popped the magic question, I could no longer recall what happened next. Honestly, I could not recall also if she said, "Yes". All I noticed minutes after was the engagement ring on her finger. 8-)

Now that I am engaged to the woman I really love, I have to move on to the next stage - adding more sweet memories in our lives!

On a final note, DiversityHuman(administrator of this blog) is working on this relationship to inspire people that "forever exists" in love.
