What makes me proud of the REO brothers?

The Beatles are known because of their music and iconic views. If you can't relate, then I’m pretty sure your mom or dad can. The Beatles band members-John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, are known since 1950s, the rock era. Rooted in skiffle, beat, rock and roll music then they later experiment with different genres such as pop ballads, psychedelic, hard rock and classical which became very popular in the early 1960s and beyond. John Lennon is one the most popular members of the band, not only because he wrote a lot of songs but he was a political activist and paficist that caused him an early death.

Over seventeen albums were launched and successfully recorded by The Beatles, which are still being played and a lot of people today are still listening and loving their music. Several companies used their images as a marketing strategy, design for shoes, and shirts. Vans shoe company is one of those who came up with Vans limited edition, The Beatles shoes. Not only that! Their songs are mostly used as an OST in movies as well.

Like The Beatles, REO Brothers are also composed of four members namely, RJ (lead guitar), Reno (drums), Ralph (bass) and Raymart (Rhythm guitar) but what is very cute about them is, they are real brothers, who are part of the Otic family. They are originally based in Tacloban, one of the places that was severely hit by super typhoon Yolanda in 2013. The family survived but lost everything which made them pursue their hobby into a career as “The Beatles ng Pinas”. Their story captivated a lot of Filipino netizens since December last year. The group slowly earn international attention when the talent center of ABS-CBN exposed them to several audiences outside the country.

REO brothers appeared in numerous TV shows including Rated K in ABS-CBN and Dr. Oz Show in the US. Beatles fans around the country love them, perhaps they may be copying The Beatles but a 65-year-old from St. Alban said;

"They’re so good. They don’t copy The Beatles, they’re themselves. A lot of the groups they try and make out that they are The Beatles, but they are always themselves,” he said.

Despite their success, they still remain connected from where they have been and they are hoping for a full recovery of their hometown in Tacloban. REO Brothers also mentioned about having a home coming concert.

“When the right time comes, hopefully we could do a home coming concert dedicated to our hometown.”

Writing, Clothes, Girlfriends, Good Places, and to be with someone I could sing and dance through (if you know what I mean) is what I call life. To be able to be an author of a book of what I can call my own is my dream. Writing for DiversityHuman feels like I am one step closer to it. :-)
