They Found Love in the Hopeless Place, in the Middle of 'Yolanda' Debris | Widow and a Widower Fell in Love

“ I was standing, all alone against the world outside.”
“ You were searching, for a place to hide “
“ Now I found you, there’s no more emptiness inside “
“ When were hungry, Love will keep us alive “

Ok, call me cheesy. I’m just a little bit carried away by the sweet feeling on this special day. I found the Eagle’s song “Love will keep us alive” very appropriate for the love story of two Yolanda survivors. At least, there’s something good about Yolanda that we can still cheer about despite the countless lives that it has taken away.

The love story of a Widow and the Widower

After super typhoon Yolanda barreled through Palo, Leyte, a widow named Rhoda Pulga and a widower Nestor Vergara survived the desolating storm probably because they still have a purpose in life or because God still has a better plan for the two.

Nestor, 54, and 36-year-old Rhoda started their new found love three months after Yolanda destroyed a huge area in Central Philippines. Aside from the 18-year-old gap, doubters were initially against the budding romance of the two because they believe that it’s too early to replace their deceased wife and husband.

In an interview, Nestor said that he asked Rhoda to marry him three days after they met and the latter said yes. They met during the fifth death anniversary of Nestor’s grandmother last February 2. She swept Vergarra off his feet and made him fall deeply in love with her.

On the other hand, Rhoda has been praying to God to give him someone who’s old, mature enough, and a partner who will not leave her. She didn't get disappointed, Vergara came just in time.

According to reports, there are about 60 widows and widowers in the barren community of Cogon but local officials claimed that Nestor and Rhoda were the first widow and widower who fell in love to each other. Now, how about the remaining 58? For sure, they will be offering flowers to their dead spouses this coming Valentines day but let's give them enough time. If someone among the group is destined to be with each other, it will happen eventually.

Love find it’s way!

Love is not something that you should make someone swallow by force, it is nurtured and developed according to their will and it just so happened that Nestor and Rhoda perfectly suited each other’s gaps.
