DiversityHuman.com published an article asking help for Alfred Salmos three (3) weeks ago and finally home sweet home for Alfredo Salmos

Alfredo-Salmos.jpgOverseas Filipino worker (OFW) Alfredo Salmos, 52, who suffered severe burn due to an electrical accident in Saudi Arabia has returned to the country on Tuesday-May 22, 2012.

Mr. Salmos arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at around 12:50 p.m. aboard Saudia Airlines flight SV872, his plane ticket paid for by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). He was met by his sister Epifania and younger brother Junnie.

Through colleagues, friends, and the migrant rights group Migrante-Middle East, Salmos’ plight went viral on Facebook, spreading through the Philippine community in Saudi and eventually reaching the Philippine government.

“That’s the beauty of the social media, now governments anywhere have immediate information on their nationals who are in distress and need help,” said Susan Ople, president of the non-government organization (NGO) Blas Ople Center, who welcomed Salmos at the airport.

OWWA chief Carmelita Dimzon said Salmos will receive P100,000 disability pay as well as benefits from other government agencies.

Mr. Salmos is now facing a new challenge. After the initial assessment of Philippine General Hospital-Plastic surgery division and burning unit, the doctors found solutions in restoring rough huge scars, some of the wounds on his body which are hardened into keloids and detach his face from his neck. However, this won't be easy for him because he lacks budget. He made an appeal to the Philippine president seeking for monetary assistance for his operation.

For those who wish to help OFW Alfred Salmos, please get in touch with the Blas F. Ople Center via 833-5337/833-9562 for !coordination purposes. Donations can be channelled to the bank account set up by Alfred’s sister: Epifania Reem S. Colina, BPI !Carmen West Rosales Pangasinan #0639-0859-29.
