QCPD Policeman blocked President's Ninoy Convoy Faces Summary Dismissal
SPO2 Ricardo Pascua of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) was relieved from his post and faces summary dismissal for allegedly refusing to make way to the convoy of President Benigno Aquino III along Commonwealth Avenue. The president was reportedly on his way to attend a program at the La Mesa Dam near Batasan when his convoy chanced upon the orange Asian utility vehicle (Mitsubishi Adventure) driven by the policeman, SPO2 Ricardo Pascua.
According to Quezon City police head Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega, Presidential Security Group head Brig. Gen. Ramon Mateo Dizon ordered PSG members to approach Pascua to make way for the president's convoy.
Dela Vega also said Pascua's vehicle had a "QCPD" (Quezon City Polic District) license plate in front.
During the PSG confrontation, Pascua allegedly refused to give his name nor his driver's license, and even said, "Pulis ako ."
QCPD head Chief Superintendent Mario dela Vega said Pascua, who was assigned to the QCPD Station 4, was relieved from his post after the incident.
Later in the day, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said at a press briefing that Malacañang had no hand in the “quite arrogant” policeman’s sacking. In fact, the Palace only knew of the issue during the briefing itself.
“Let me be very clear. It was an administrative decision by the QCPD,” said Lacierda. “What I know was that we were just going to file a report (through the PSG),” Lacierda said. - GMA news & ABS CBN news
