OFW in Saudi 'Jeremiah H. De Leon' Electrocuted, Dead on the Spot
A 26-year-old OFW in Saudi Arabia identified as Jeremiah H. De Leon was electrocuted while working in a certain construction site in Arar, the capital of Northern Borders Province. He was from Cavite who risked to have a job abroad.
A certain post in Facebook is causing an online outage after the DFA and OWWA allegedly failed to provide assistance for the repatriation of De Leon's remains. The victim purportedly died on September 21, 2014 after he accidentally clung to a high voltage wire in an hospital construction site.
Jeremiah H. De Leon was rushed to nearby hospital but the OFW succumbed to death due to the electric shock which could have injured his vital internal organs preventing his heart and brain signals to normally function. He was declared dead on arrival.
The OFW was working in Sraco company and he was registered to Sunway International Manpower agency. De Leon had worked in Saudi for nearly four years.

Meanwhile, according to a post on Facebook via Filipino!! OFW Doha Qatar, the family of the victim was allegedly promised by DFA officials that the repatriation of De Leon will be executed in two weeks. However, it's nearly three weeks now and nothing has been done yet. DFA and OWWA didn't provide a substantial help and assistance to the family of De Leon and whenever the relatives of the victim would call the government agencies, they were just being referred from one department to another. (This is very irritating, right?)
The frustrated and grieving family members of de Leon are totally lost and are seeking help of the netizens to expedite the repatriation of the electrocuted OFW Jeremiah de Leon from Saudi Arabia back to the Philippines.
If you happen to have a direct contact in DFA, OWWA, Philippine embassy, or POEA, please ask them to personally provide immediate assistance to Jeremiah H. De Leon.
It infuriates me hearing news like this. Why is it that the government agencies are very slow in providing proper support and aid to OFW victims? First, in terms of budget, DFA is highly funded by the Philippine government. Second, OFWs are also contributing huge fees in various government agencies for life insurance and support when an emergency occurs. Third, these officials sworn to serve the Filipino people at all times but now they ignored the family members of de Leon. This is a plague that government employees should have addressed long time ago but instead they prefer to be part of the traditional system.
These useless corrupt officials are just waiting for any outage and noise in the social media or else they will just remain silent. Whoever that scumbag officials in DFA who declined to properly assist the needs of de Leon should step down ASAP. They don't deserve to be paid and suck the money of the Filipino people!
Shame on you DFA and OWWA officials. Get out of your office and work on this case before millions of people will march to your doors!
UPDATE: A Facebook comment (can be seen in mobile view) indicated that the cause of the delay is the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia. The government employees allegedly failed to provide quick response in processing the repatriation documents of de Leon.
