According to ABS-CBN news, various schools in the Philippines joined together in making a working prototype of hybrid cars. The pinoy hybrid cars can travel up to 700km with 1-liter of gasoline and with the use of electricity.
The inventors from University of sto. Tomas (UST) said that the Philippine hybrid car consumes minimal gas but can travel a long distance making it very competitive if released to the market and will help car owners against the continuing oil price hikes.
In Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2011, University of the Philippines won the Diesel Fuel Award for its urban concept vehicle entry 'Kidlat' which runs on a hybrid diesel engine. While Mapua Institute of Technology's Team 'Amihan' won second place for the Safety Award, recognizing their effort to comply with the safety rules and integrate safety concerns into their vehicle design and construction. -GMA news
