Davao City - A pretty woman made multiple successful scam transactions over the past months. Authorities believed that she collected nearly 400 million pesos from innocent victims. The suspect easily convinced different individuals to invest in her alleged "lending company" by promising that their money will be doubled in just a short span of time. However, the modus of the suspect is over after she was arrested by Davao City police this week.
Ma. Elma Grace Castillo Corona was caught by authorities in a fast food chain near Davao International Airport. She traveled from Manila and supposed to target another victim who was willing to invest P1 million. Corona, however, didn't know that it was set up by Davao City police. She was immediately arrested after the transaction was completed at the food establishment.
According to several reports, Ma. Elma Grace Castillo Corona fooled her victims by telling that she has a lending company which offers loans to the employees of Bureau of Customs. Ma. Elma Grace would then tell the victims that they can easily earn by investing in her company. Unknown to many, Corona uses an old illegal invesment scheme called "double your money".
In the report of rmn.ph, the suspect would only fulfill the first two payments but thereafter she will just provide alibi to her customers. Corona also forced her investors to recruit additional people by giving them an incentive of 20%.
Ma. Elma Grace Castillo Corona was previously employed in a certain bank in Davao city where she was fired due to mishandling of money and alike.
Davao City police are currently studying appropriate charges against Corona. The local police are also urging other victims of "double your money" modus of Corona to file their respective complaints.
