Viral News Update: Abellana Grade 9 Students Mistreated Math Teacher In Group Chat
Cebu City, Philippines - A certain post on Facebook gained attention and has become a hot topic today citing the misbehavior of grade 9 students toward their Math teacher. The issue was raised by certain Mary Grace Divine Sumalinog after being dismayed by the rudeness and inappropriate behavior of the students in Abellana National School situated at Osmeña Boulevard, Barangay Sambag II in Cebu City. From the release of the said news in social media, the humble Mathematics teacher continuously receives an overwhelming support and encouragement from thousands of netizens.

According to Mary Grace, there was an initial confusion about the Math homework assigned to the grade school learners. The students allegedly didn't receive a soft copy of the Math module in which they are supposed to complete the said Mathematics exercise. This was the start of the long conversation between the students and the Math teacher in their dedicated group chat which later turned into a disrespectful convo.
Below are the screenshots containing the rude conversation and misbehavior of Abellana grade 9 students to their Math teacher. According to Hitsugaya Toshiro, this conversation has now been deleted from the group chat.
Due to this incident, a petition for the expulsion of the involved students from Abellana National School has been called out and the campaign has been initiated at Change.org.
Meanwhile, a Facebook page "Amen To You" showed support by sharing a positive experience in Abellana National School teachers.

In those days, I have teachers who really taught us not only academic lessons but also lessons in life. Di sad nko mailimod nga naa koy teachers nga for me as a student, gamay ra kaayu kog nakat-unan. Even though ing-ana amung sitwasyon, NEVER JUD MI NAMBASTOS OG TEACHER. Yes we have our share of pangasaba kay mao ni and mao na pero wala jud mi nangstorya og bati nga mga butang towards our teacher.
There’s an on going issue right now in social media about a teacher nga gibastos sa iyang mga students. Adults who are reading this, lets help the younger ones to understand the value of respect. Ayaw namug comment og bati about sa ilang post, lets guide them and do some interventions kay basin stress pud ni sila. To sir, you are one of the best Math teachers our batch had. So padayun sa pagtudlo sir.
As an alumnus of Abellana National School, I am proud to say that we have contributed something better to our Alma Mater. One incident wont define us as an institution. We are more than that. We commit mistakes but we learn from it. We do our best to achieve our dreams.

In the light of the recent issue, rest assured that the school will take action which is deemed to be in the best interest of all the parties involved, mindful of the existing school rules and laws, under the principle of fairness.
