Well-respected Actor Roy Alvarez succumbed to Death
Manila, Philippines – One of the most respected actors in the Philippine cinema, Roy Alvarez, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. The wife of the veteran actor, Nieves Campa-Alvarez, confirmed his passing to the local media.
Among the showbiz stars, who turned to social media to share the news were Maricar de Mesa and Gina Alajar. On Tuesday night, both stars expressed their condolences to the family of Alvarez through their own twitter account. “Just received a really sad sad news. RIP Tito Roy Alvarez aka Don Manolo Quintana,” Maricar said. While Gina tweeted “With sadness and grief, my heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mr Roy Alvarez, a good actor, a friend and a great person. I will miss you.”

According to reports, Roy Alvarez died due to a cardiac arrest.
Alvarez, whose career spans over 40 years, starred in several TV series. He was also a director, script writer, and a theater actor. The most recent TV project of Roy Alvarez is the ongoing “Villa Quintana” which airs on GMA7. Alvarez was also an environmentalist. He visited various places in the Philippines to promote the protection of mother nature.
