Neriza Fojas, Newly-wed Pinay Nurse died in Limo Fire in California

Neriza Fojas, 31 years old and a registered nurse at the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, died in a tragic limousine fire in San Francisco Bay Area late Saturday.

Fojas and her friends were on their way to the Crowne Plaza Hotel for a bridal shower when suddenly the limo burst into flames on the San Mateo Bridge. Neriza and four members of the bridal party, who were at the backseat, all perished in the blaze while the driver and four other women near the front of the limo managed to escape.

San Mateo County’s Medical Examiner Robert Foucrault said the badly burned bodies were found near the partition that separated the driver and the passengers. He said the bodies were on top of each other and seemed to do what they could to get out.

The driver, Orville Brown, 46, said some of the women in the limo tried to escape the inferno through the vehicle's narrow partition, but for others it was too late.

Authorities say there was no traffic collision involved but they are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Other news source identified the rest of the survivors as Guardiano, Nelia Arrellano, Jasmine Desguia and Amalia Loyola.

Neriza Fojas and her husband planned to return to the Philippines next month to hold another ceremony for relatives. - report from News.com.au and ABS-CBN news
