Makati Mayor Binay Breaks Peace and Order, Overpowers Security Guards at Dasma Village

Makati Mayor Junjun Binay Disrupted Peace and Order by OVERPOWERING Dasma Village Security Guards

The son of Philippine Vice President Jejomar Binay, Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, got involved in an incident in which many netizens highly condemned.

This young, good looking and so POWERful mandrill is being denounced to a great extent by many concerned citizens who saw the video footage in Dasma Village and they believe that Binay exemplified how stature and power can be abused to his advantage. This is a very embarassing moment for our nation, who is trying its best to build up its reputation and win back other countries’ respect but it just took another hit with our politicians’ credibility.

mayor-binay-vs-dasma-village-security-guards According to a news report by ABS-CBN, Armed security guards at Dasmariñas Village bordered the fleet carrying Makati Mayor JunJun Binay, which caused the tension at the village's gate to rise, Binay’s spokesman said. The mayor's 4-vehicle convoy was barred from using the Banyan Road gate to leave the village last November 30.

The entire confrontation of Mayor Binay's convoy and Dasma village security guards was reportedly captured by a CCTV installed in the area. The guards of the Right Eight Security Inc. did not raise the iron barrier, supposedly due to a rule that no vehicle is allowed to pass through the gate after 10 p.m. for security reasons. Hence, vehicles exiting from Dasma Village have to go through other gates after that timeframe.

Then the suspected arresting incident came right after. Although Makati Mayor Junjun Binay denied Thursday the allegations that he ordered the arrest of three security guards of Dasmariñas Village after they allegedly prevented his convoy from using a gate as their exit, there are still other versions of this incident that are circulating on the internet and news which I consider as an upsetting and unbecoming etiquette of a high ranking government official like Mayor Binay.

But these sources were flamed by Binay’s camp for claiming that the mayor voiced the words "Hindi mo ba ako kilala? (Don't you know me?)" to the guards after he alighted his vehicle and that one of his convoy pulled out his gun to accentuate their boss’ authority as well as to threaten those guards who were just doing their jobs.

However, Binay’s camp said : "This is false and downright malicious. Conversely, the mayor went down his vehicle and said, "Si Mayor Binay ako. Baka pwedeng makiraan lang!"

I would like to cite an example of a concerned citizen’s feedback about this incident. And I’m going to choose Ms. Karen Davila’s statements as a paradigm.

Karen Davila made her comment regarding this controversy on her radio show on DZMM, this is what she said: ( My reactions in regards to her comment is also included.)

Karen Davila believes public officials should not get any special treatment or favors, explaining that this is the only way to achieve the "tuwid na daan."

(For us to be able to have a straighter path towards a highly credible government, we first need to have a just public servant. No special treatments or favors like what she said. No extra previleges for someone just because he or she is a well known or powerful individual in our society. Equality is one of the main principles that should be practiced if we want to have a disciplined government.)

"Bakit? Who cares kung VIP yun? Iyan na naman tayo, nandiyan ulit sa pag VIP bigyan mong konsiderasyon. Pag ordinaryong residente, ewan ko ba," she said.

(No one should be above the law regardless of your VIP status. Everyone should follow the regulations. It is made by our legislative sectors for us to follow and no one should be excused. If there is a cut off time of 10pm for the gates to be closed, whether you are a SON OF A B**** (Binay) or just a Balut vendor, you should not be allowed to pass.)

"Pag nagsimula ka kasi ng ganyan, hindi tayo nasa tuwid na daan. Ang gusto nga nating magbago yung kultura natin eh diba?" Davila added.

(If we are going to tolerate these kind of acts, then bid farewell to all our aspirations for a good change in our government. And we just have to bear with this crooked and bulgy path for as long as these abusive, greedy and shameless rulers are living.)
