Tito Sotto III, Senate Majority Leader, filed a bill seeking to abolish the libel provision in the controversial Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 or RA 10175.
Sotto filed the measure to level the playing field among the internet users and mainstream media where the latter was only criminally liable under the Revised Penal Code (RPC).

Janice Formichella wrote a blog at msmagazine.com stating her opinion after several concerned netizens and media groups alerted her regarding the unauthorized use of her blog post dated two (2) years ago.
On Janices' recent blog post she said that she is an American blogger who owns a small business in New York City. She was utterly surprised when a two-year-old blog post of hers suddenly made it to the floor of the Philippine Senate last month.
"According to the Filipino reporters who alerted me to this, Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III lifted entire passages from a post I wrote for Feminists for Choice and twisted them into an anti-choice argument against an important reproductive rights bill in the country.", she said.

In a post from twitter, Michel Eldiy bashed out Sotto on his translated speech originally delivered by the late US Senator Robert F. Kennedy.
