The QCPD reportedly place Ronnie Montero in custody after he allegedly killed his wife, Amy, at a gasoline station in Quezon City before dawn on Friday.
Police Officer 2 George Caculba said Montero was with his wife and cousin, Cesar Lopez, in an FX taxi bound for Camarin, Caloocan City. When the taxi driver pulled over at the gasoline station along Regalado Avenue in Barangay North Fairview to gas up, Montero got out of the vehicle and asked his wife to follow him to the comfort room. Moments later, Lopez heard Amy screaming for help. He and the taxi driver, Joel Briones, rushed into the scene and attempted to help the victim but the restroom was locked. After it was opened, Lopez and the others found Amy lying on the floor.
Ronnie Montero tried to escape from the crime scene but the taxi driver ran after Montero and called the attention of some bystanders, asking them to stop the suspect. The bystanders beat up Montero, thinking he was a robber. When asked why he killed his wife, Montero argued that his wife wanted to kill him. He also said his wife got angry when he asked her if she wanted to follow his father to the grave. According to ABS-CBN news report, Montero said he killed his wife since she planned to admit him into a mental hospital.
Lopez on the other hand, told the police that they were supposed to bring Montero to a faith healer in Camarin for treatment since his cousin started to act as if he was possessed by evil spirits at his father’s wake last week. - PDI news
